In OHC families are teachers. So our resources will reflect some of what professionals can learn from families. This includes examples of community organizations, local and national, that support families who have a loved one with IDD. Many of these are run by people who have family experience.
The list of community resources offered is by no means exhaustive. We aim to provide some excellent examples so our future health care providers get an idea of good standards and possibilities.
As future health care professionals, continue to build your own lists of community resources as part of your repertoire on how to support your future families. Many of these may be suggested by your future families in your care.
